In 2021, the Sasha Waltz & Guests dance company began a colourful and innovative artistc exploration based on Terry Riley's revolutionary composition of the same name, In C (1964). From this experiment in minimalism emerged an ever-evolving compostion built on a playful system: 53 choreographic figures that form the basis of a structured improvisation within a set framework.

As the work finds new ground in Bangalore, a diverse ensemble of Indian dancers engages with this open structure through a series of workshops and jams led by Joshua Sailo. Filtering his experience performing with the company with his own choreographic sensibilities, the restaging process invited dancers to delve into the interplay between movement, music, and space, fostering a dynamic environment where individual choices and collective rhythms come into joyful dialogue. With shifting roles that emphasise listening, responsiveness, and the fragile balance between personal expression and ensemble cohesion, the piece weaves a colourful tapestry of each dancer's choices, celebrating diversity and community.
